WHERE NEW BASS DAY IS EVERY DAY
CONDITION | C. Excellent |
This is one fabulous bass, although I didn't think so when I bought it. At the time, I wanted a backup 5 string and had heard good things about it, and bought one without ever playing one. Yeah, I know.
Well, I loved the neck right away and that made it worth saving because the tone did not do it. Since then, I have read others complain about the same thing - I found the higher frequency response to be strident and harsh.
My favorite high end preamp replacement is the Darkglass Tone Capsule. I had one left over from an aborted project, and wasted no time installing it. What a difference!
Well, things changed, as they do. I got tired of bouncing back and forth between a four and a five for my duo, and I bought a six string. My partner only plays rhythm, so I get to play all the leads. We only do originals, so it's a lot of fun. I had strung the Dimension E-C. (It's back to standard tuning now.) But with the six string, I can do all the tunes without having to change basses so the Dimension started gathering dust, which is a real shame.
Our duo is fairly new, so the Dimension has actually never left the house, and the house is smoke free. As you can see from the pictures, it is a very nice looking instrument.
Anyway, I was going to reinstall the original preamp but one of the little cable assemblies got misplaced and finding a replacement, or even the little connector which would enable me to wire the assembly myself, just turned into a nightmare. So, I am leaving the Darkglass Tone Capsule in there, and also including the original preamp because I certainly have no need of it. Besides, it sounds SO much better with the Tone Capsule in there.
Other than the Tone Capsule, there are no mods to this bass other than the previous owner had installed a cheapo plastic tug bar, which killed me. I didn't want to leave two empty holes, so I found a pretty nice rosewood tug bar and changed it out.
If you would like, I can include a gig bag as I have way too many. No extra charge, just let me know.
The bass does have some nice features. It uses a Fender High Mass bridge, and also a set of Fender's ultra light machine heads. The bass stays in tune very well.
I am estimating $125 for shipping. Rates are rising, but if the shipping is more, I will cover the difference.
Oh, before I forget. You can see the serial number in one of the pictures. I did a lookup on the Fender site and it says that MX13404610 was made in 2013 at the Ensenada Plant in Mexico. Reverb says that they didn't start making them until 2014. Go figure. Anyway, it's a 2013 model.
That's the story! If you need more specific pictures, or have questions, please ask before making an offer or buying.
Thanks for looking!
