1973 Fender Jazz Bass
Serial number starts with 396 which indicates 1973.
All original with the exception of the bridge. The bass currently has a Leo Quan BadAss 2 bridge, but i have the original bridge. I can swap the bridge back to the original if you’d like, just ask. Pickups and electronics are original and clean sounding. No noisy pots or ground noise.
The neck is straight and the frets are original with tons of life left in them.
The bass weighs 10.3 lbs.
I’ve spoken to several people and each have said that this particular bass may in fact be a one off/custom shop/NAMM piece/etc because the neck pocket is stamped SPECIAL and the paint job on the body, which is the original paint, shows the veins in the ash. Fender grain fills their ash so the paint is flat and level, this one does not have that. So that points to something special with this bass.
I have the original bridge and pickup chrome covers as well.
The case is the original case too. It is in great shape and all three latches work.
This bass is an absolute monster and has tone for days. Easily one of the best Jazz Basses i’ve ever played. It has some serious Rush vibes to it, it’s a year younger than Geddy Lee’s bass, but still!!
I’m asking $5000 OBO for it plus $150 for shipping in the continental US. AK, HI, and international must pay for shipping. Payment via Paypal, Venmo, Cash App, and Zelle preferred.
Any questions, please reach out.
